Most pool builders order rock. We carve it.
We are the only builder in the Pacific Northwest carving rock by hand. The grottos, caves, waterslides and waterfalls in our portfolio are sculpted on site in shotcrete over steel by artisans whose résumés include Cougar Mountain Zoo exhibits and hand-sculpted backyard waterfalls. Real rock that looks like it was always there. Designed and built, start to finish, by the same crew, across western Washington.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Our Services

Also offering fiberglass pools. The shell arrives finished, so we can have you swimming about six to eight weeks after breaking ground instead of four to six months. Fewer choices than a custom build, and closer to custom in price than most people expect. Speed is the reason people pick it. Same standard in the ground.

Carved rock slide and boulder fire pit, finished in stamped concrete.

Your backyard in clay, before we break ground.

Hand-sculpted rock, stained on site to match the yard.
Every One Is One Of A Kind
We are the only builder in the Pacific Northwest hand-carving artificial rock, jump rocks, swim-up bars, fire features, even a grotto with a tree-snag rope swing. Whatever you can picture, we can sculpt and stain by hand. No two are alike, and none of them come from a catalog.
See it Before You Sign
For rock projects we hand-build a half-inch scale clay model of your backyard, so you can see exactly where the features sit. We rebuild it as many times as it takes. For tile and coping pools we build a full 3D rendering - clean lines read better on a screen than in clay. You'll see your whole yard before you sign anything.
From Dirt to Water
Excavation, shotcrete, rock carving, stain and finish. We manage every stage of your build, and the same people who shaped your clay model are on site when the grotto takes shape months later. One point of contact from the first sketch to the first swim.

Two friends, fifteen years, one standard.
Company owners Julio Castillo and Layne McNair are lifelong friends who have worked side by side in pools and concrete for more than fifteen years, trained by some of the most respected builders in the trade.
The crew they built includes concrete artisans who have shaped everything from zoo exhibits to hand-sculpted backyard waterfalls. Whether your style is wild or minimal, you get the same thing: honest answers, real craftsmanship and a backyard that looks like nobody else's.
At Pacific Northwest Pools and Concrete Design we build the one everybody talks about.
