We Were Doing The Work Long Before We Owned The Company

Pacific Northwest Pools and Concrete Design was built by two lifelong friends who wanted to do this work the right way. Julio Castillo and Layne McNair have worked side by side in pools and concrete for more than fifteen years, trained by some of the most respected builders in the trade. They started PNW around a simple idea: build one-of-a-kind pools with real craftsmanship, keep the work in their own hands and treat clients like family, not projects.

QUALITY AND CARE
At PNW Pools and Concrete, we transform outdoor spaces into breathtaking retreats. The crew Julio and Layne built includes concrete artisans who have shaped everything from zoo exhibits to hand-sculpted backyard waterfalls. That is the difference between a rock feature that looks real and one that looks like a kit. We carve, texture and stain by hand, because that is the only way to get it right.
Our Craft
We build in high-strength shotcrete over steel, carve the texture by hand and work acid stain color into the surface. We hand-build a half-inch scale clay model of every project so your family can hold the design before we break ground. And we manage every stage ourselves, so quality never gets lost in a handoff.

Our Team

Lifelong friends, fifteen years in the trade. Julio designs the pools and carves the rock. Layne runs the job sites.

Our Rock Artisans
The Hands on Every Build
Sculptors, masons and finishers who shape rock by hand. Some have carved exhibits you have walked past at a zoo. We manage every stage, start to finish.
HOW IT STARTED
Before it Was a Career
Julio was on job sites before he was old enough to be useful on one. He grew up around the trade, watching how a pour gets called, why a crew stops when the light changes, what a foreman does when the plan meets the dirt. Nobody sat him down and taught him a career. He picked it up the way you pick up a first language, and by the time he understood that was what was happening, he already knew the work.
A pool build takes months. We are in your backyard through weather and setbacks and the week the neighbors ask what is going on back there. You learn a family's schedule. You learn which dog is friendly. Somewhere in there it stops being a job site. Most of our work now comes from people who hired us once and then told someone else to, and that is the part we are proudest of.
WHAT CLIENTS SAY
“It was such a pleasure working with Julio and Layne. Words can’t express how happy we are with how our backyard and pool remodel turned out. What stood out to us most was how committed they were to getting every detail right. They weren’t just focused on finishing the job—they put real care, craftsmanship, and thought into every aspect of the project, and it absolutely shows in the final result."

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
“Julio was incredible to work with. We wanted a diving rock to add to our recently remodeled pool, but we weren't sure exactly what we wanted. Julio listened to our ramblings, invited us to see some of their work and ended up putting our rambling into his work and exceeded our expectations. They were quick to get the project completed and took pride to ensure our backyard was cleaner than when they arrived. The rock looks LEGIT like we had boulders craned in and have completed our outdoor oasis."
-Sara, City?
